We all love the smell and taste of freshly brewed coffee and there’s only one thing that can make it better – CBD! In case the CBD coffee trend has passed you by, we put together 8 of our favourite CBD coffee recipes that you can try at home, using your favourite CBD products.
Why Put CBD and Coffee Together?
There are many reasons why CBD and coffee work so well together but the main reason is bioavailability. CBD is fat-soluble, which means it dissolves in fatty substances like milk. Adding CBD into your morning flat white means that your body can absorb the cannabinoid faster and more efficiently.
Coffee is a stimulator, which can help us feel awake and ready to tackle the day. However, sometimes it can make us feel a little restless and jittery.
That’s where CBD comes in. CBD has calming effects as it works with our bodies to restore and maintain balance. By combining coffee and CBD you can improve mental clarity and focus, meaning you’re sure to smash your daily goals!
Sure, there are plenty of coffee shops that offer a CBD option these days, but making a coffee at home has a host of benefits.
Firstly, it is a lot cheaper, and we all know that daily coffee shop visits can add up. Secondly, you can fully customise your coffee order. CBD doses differ for everyone and if you’re the one in charge of the dropper, you can make sure you tailor your daily dose to your needs.
Let’s take a look at our favourite recipes for drinking CBD coffee!
1. The Classic CBD Latte With a Twist
If you’re a coffee connoisseur, we’re sure that you’ve mastered the art of making the perfect latte at home, latte art flowers and all. That’s why we’ve decided to kick things up a notch by adding CBD and a little something extra to take your morning latte to the next level.
What You’ll Need…
- 1 cup of barista oat milk or hemp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp date syrup or you can use agave syrup or honey
- 1 CBD-infused espresso shot
Method…
- If you’re wondering how to make CBD coffee, it’s a lot easier than you think, especially if you use coffee that’s already been infused for you! It’s often quite tricky to get things right when adding CBD oil to coffee because it separates from the coffee. That’s because CBD oil is fat-soluble, meaning it doesn’t dissolve in water. That’s why we opted for this infused ground coffee for most of our CBD coffee recipes.
- You can stir it to mix it in but after a couple of minutes, you will notice oil droplets rising to the surface, giving a rather unpleasant oily texture.
- We have chosen this particular coffee because it’s not just super convenient, it’s also delicious. The deep nutty tones compliment the creamy, sweet taste of our luxury latte perfectly.
- Add the milk, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the metal steaming jug. If you have chosen to use CBD oil, we recommend adding it now too. This way it’ll bind to the fat molecules in the milk, giving you a creamy texture, rather than an oily one.
- Next, you’ll want to steam the milk. To do this you can pop the steam wand into the jug and hold it at a 45° angle. Air is brought into the milk as it swirls, giving a smooth, creamy texture.
- As the milk heats up, bring the jug down so that the wand is just below the surface. This will create a tiny layer of micro-foam, perfect for your luxury latte.
To Make The Espresso
- When the milk is ready, it’s time for your espresso. Load a shot of ground coffee into your espresso machine, as you usually would. But before you press the button, we recommend adding the date syrup (or sweetener of your choice) to the mug. This will help melt the sweetener, making it easier to incorporate into the coffee.
- When your coffee shot is ready to go, simply pour your milk with the usual flourishes to create some masterpiece latte art. If it’s closer to a Picasso painting, that’s alright too though – it’s going to taste amazing!
- This is one of our favourite CBD coffee recipes because you can enjoy it hot or you can pour it over ice to enjoy during the warmer months.

2. Maple Pecan Latte
If your mouth waters when you think about maple & pecan pastries, you’re going to love this CBD coffee recipe – it tastes just like them!
Because you will want to enjoy this luxury latte more than once a week, we thought it would be better to make a syrup that you can use in your coffee throughout the week. That way, you can bring it to work and treat yourself on your coffee breaks.
Simply pop the syrup in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for up to a week. To get that amazing pecan flavour, we have opted for real pecan butter. But if you can’t find that in your local supermarket, don’t panic. You can make some yourself!
All you need to do is lightly toast some pecans in the oven, let them cool down, and then pop them in the blender. Blend until they’re smooth and you’re good to go. You might even have some leftovers to enjoy on a bagel (we highly recommend).
What You’ll Need…
- ⅓ cup coconut milk or heavy cream
- ½ tbsp butter/ vegan-friendly butter alternative
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- ¼ pecan butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- CBD oil of your choice – we prefer Canndid CBD Tincture
Method…
- Pop the brown sugar, butter, pecan butter, and maple syrup into a small saucepan and heat over medium-high heat. Make sure to stir the ingredients constantly using a wooden spoon or whisk to make sure everything is fully incorporated.
- When the sugar is fully dissolved (this should take 2-4 minutes), remove the syrup from the heat.
- Before the syrup mixture cools, add the vanilla extract and coconut cream along with a couple of drops of CBD oil. You can use as many or as little as you’d like but we recommend you stick to your usual dose.
- Whisk all of the ingredients together to create a smooth syrup. As it cools it will become slightly darker in colour and a thicker consistency. You can store this syrup in a container to use over the next couple of days.
- When you’re ready to make your latte, just add a spoonful of the syrup into the bottom of the cup, before pouring in the espresso. This will help melt it.
- Then, steam the milk separately as you usually would. Simple!
- If you’re feeling fancy, you can top your luxury latte with a swirl of dairy-free whipped cream and a sprinkling of chopped toasted pecans.

3. CBD Bullet-Proof Coffee
Don’t be fooled by the rather intense name of this CBD coffee recipe – it won’t have you army rolling about the office, thinking you’re Rambo. However, this coffee is king when it comes to creaminess and all the added fat makes it ideal for infusing CBD.
What You’ll Need…
- ½ tsp vegan-friendly butter
- 1 coconut oil
- 1 cup of freshly brewed CBD-infused coffee
- A pinch of cinnamon powder or cardamom powder
- Dark chocolate shavings, to garnish
Method…
- For this recipe, we opted for a French press to brew our coffee as we wanted an Americano style coffee, rather than espresso. However, you can use a double shot of espresso if you prefer a stronger coffee.
- Add the coffee shot to your blender, along with the coconut oil, butter, and cinnamon powder.
- Next, you should blend the mixture together for about 20 minutes. This will produce a thick, creamy coffee blend.
- To serve, simply pour into your favourite mug and top with dark chocolate shavings for a truly decadent treat.
4. Cold Brew CBD Coffee
Cold brew coffee is often served over ice but it’s not the same thing as iced coffee, they’re both amazing in their own ways. Cold-brew is exactly what it sounds like – a coffee that’s brewed using cold water.
The best thing about this coffee (apart from the fabulous taste) is how easy it is to make. You don’t need any fancy equipment for any of our CBD coffee recipes, but the results are seriously impressive – especially this one!
This coffee takes about 12 hours to brew so we recommend getting things set up before you go to bed. That way you’ll have a rich, sweet coffee waiting for you in the morning!
What You’ll Need…
- Ground CBD-infused coffee
- Cold water
Method…
- You don’t need a fancy cold brew coffee maker, although they are available. You can simply use a french press or a large jar, as long as there is a lid for it. Depending on the size of the container you’re using, you’ll need to use different amounts of coffee and water. Ideally, you should stick to a 4:1 ratio of water to coffee though. For example, if you’re using 4 cups of water, you should use 1 cup of coarsely ground coffee – this will serve 4.
- First, add the ground coffee to the jar, and slowly pour the cold water over it. Give the mixture a quick stir to make sure the coffee is completely saturated with water.
- Next, you’ll need to cover the container with a lid. If you’re using a French press, you can pop the lid on it but don’t push the plunger down.
- Carefully place the container into the fridge to steep for at least 12 hours. Of course, you can leave it up to 24 hours too, if you prefer a more intense flavour.
- When the beans have been left to work their magic, push the plunger down to filter out the coffee. If you’re using a jar, you can pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or reusable coffee filter to remove the coffee granules.
- Pour your cold brew coffee over ice to serve! You can keep the rest in an air-tight container, in the fridge for up to a week after brewing.
5. Greek Iced Frappe
Speaking of cold brews and iced coffees, our summer wouldn’t be complete without a classic frappe. Although this is one of the more bougie CBD coffee recipes, it’s still super easy to make, especially when you use CBD-infused espresso!
We’ll also be making it the way the Greeks intended – shaken, not blended.
What You’ll Need…
- 1 shot of CBD-infused espresso
- 1 tsp sugar or a pump of your favourite syrup (yes, you can use the pecan and maple syrup we made earlier)
- Plant milk of your choice
- 1 cup water, chilled
- Ice cubes
- Large jar or shaker with a lid
- Reusable straw
Method…
- Because we’re going to make this CBD coffee recipe the way it was originally made in Greece, it means that you don’t need a blender – just a jar with a lid! Add the espresso, cold water, milk, and syrup to the jar and make sure the lid is closed securely.
- Next, envisage yourself as the next Tom Cruise in Cocktail and get shaking – you want to shake it vigorously so that the mixture becomes thick and foamy.
- Next, pop a couple of ice cubes into a tall glass and pour in your foamy frappe. Top with a reusable straw and you’re ready to go.
6. Dalgona Coffee
Staying with the summer-themed CBD coffee recipes for just a moment longer, we also have a coffee trend that we’re glad lived on past lockdown – Dalgona coffee! This whipped coffee treat is the perfect option if you want to jazz up instant coffee to enjoy with your daily dose of CBD.
What You’ll Need…
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 4 drops of Canndid CBD Tincture
- 2 tbsp sugar
- Milk to serve
- Ice cubes
Method…
- First, you’ll want to grab a large bowl. We recommend using one with high sides to keep the mess and washing up to a minimum. Then, add hot water, sugar, CBD oil, and instant coffee to the bowl.
- Next, you’ll need to whisk all the ingredients together until they’re light and fluffy – we’re looking for a whipped cream consistency. You can use a normal whisk or an electric one, if you have it – it might save you from getting a pain in your wrists.
- Alternatively, you can add all of the ingredients into a French press and raise and lower the plunger repeatedly until the mixture is thick and creamy.
- When you have the desired texture, pour your favourite plant milk into a glass with ice cubes and top with a generous dollop of whipped coffee.
- Take a quick snap for your Instagram, and use the straw to stir the coffee into the milk and enjoy!
7. White Chocolate Mocha
If you’re a fan of sweet, creamy white chocolate, this one’s for you. It’s the perfect cup of coffee to bring with you on evening strolls, all bundled up and crunching through the autumn leaves.
What You’ll Need…
- 3 tbsp white chocolate chips
- 1 CBD-infused espresso shot
- ¾ cup of milk
- 1 tsp of honey or sweetener, optional
- Dairy-free whipped cream, to garnish
- Pinch of ground nutmeg, to garnish
Method…
- Grab a small saucepan and add in the milk and chocolate chips. Gently heat them on medium-low heat, until the chocolate is melted. White chocolate has a much higher sugar content than dark or milk chocolate so it will melt a lot faster.
- To avoid burning the chocolate, go low and slow with the temperature, stirring constantly. This will help you avoid wasting precious chocolate chips. It will also help avoid the lingering smell of burnt chocolate in your kitchen!
- When the chocolate is melted and the milk is warmed, you can remove it from the heat. If you’re opting for CBD oil, you should add it now.
- Brew the espresso shot and pour it into a large mug (or Keep Cup if you’re going for a leisurely stroll).
- Next, slowly pour the chocolate milk into the mug and stir to combine with the espresso shot.
- Add in honey or a sweetener if you’d like but we recommend tasting it first – this is one of the sweeter CBD coffee recipes!
- Additionally, you can add a generous swirl of whipped cream and a pinch of ground nutmeg to top things off.
8. CBD Chocolate & Peppermint Shot
Now that we have plenty of coffees to enjoy during the warmer months, it’s time to work on our festive beverages for the rest of the year. Let’s start with our chocolate and peppermint shot CBD coffee recipes.
What You’ll Need…
- Double shot of CBD-infused espresso
- Peppermint syrup
- 1 tbsp vegan-friendly hot chocolate powder
- ½ agave syrup or sweetener of your choice
- ½ cup plant-based milk
Method…
- Brew a double shot of espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine you can use a stove-top percolator. Canndid CBD-infused ground coffee can be used in either and makes a sweet, chocolatey espresso that’s also perfect for this recipe.
- Grab your favourite mug and add in the drinking chocolate and sweetener of your choice.
- Next, slowly pour in the espresso whilst constantly stirring to make sure the powder dissolves and doesn’t go lumpy.
- If you prefer a cortado, you can add in a shot of steamed milk. Or, for a macchiato, you can add a blob of frothed milk on top.
- For maximum festive flavour, you can also add a candy cane on the side when serving.
